The Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC), is committed to protecting your on-line privacy and the confidentiality of personal information you may provide while interacting with the Our Future 101 website on the Internet. This policy seeks to clarify our privacy policy.

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing

We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.

We will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request, for text alerts or to be added to our mailing list for project updates.

Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to tell you about project updates, Our Future 101 Open Houses or community forums, or changes to this privacy policy.

VCTC does not automatically collect personally identifiable information about visitors who do no more than browse this site or download information from it. We do not release information about the collection of IP addresses to any third party, except under court order. While we maintain logs of user activity in order to help us manage the website, the information stored in these logs does not identify users personally. The logs store such things as the domain name and IP addresses used to access our website; the type of browsers and operating systems used by site visitors; the date and time of site visits; and the pages accessed. VCTC staff may use this information to help improve the website and its features.

Personal Information You Send

In order to use the forms on this website, a user must first complete the contact form. During registration a user is required to give certain information (such as name and email address). This information is used to contact you about project updates on text alerts in which you have expressed interest. At your option, you may also provide additional contact information (such as phone number or information you would like to receive) about yourself, but it is not required.

If you participate in a survey or send us an e-mail, your e-mail address and the other information you volunteer will be collected. In addition, visitors who request services through this site may be required to furnish additional information to enable us to provide the service requested. The additional information collected will be no more specific than if the visitor were requesting the service by any other means, including by telephone or an in-person visit to VCTC facility. We may share this information with other public agencies or organizations if such action is required to provide the assistance you are requesting.

Sharing

We share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person. We partner with another party to provide specific contact updates. When the user signs up for these updates, we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these update services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.

If you send VCTC an e-mail that includes personal information, we normally will use the information only to respond to your message. We do not use information received in e-mails to create personal profiles, and we do not give or sell e-mail information to others for commercial purposes. If you send us a threat or a message that describes or promotes unlawful activity, we will forward the e-mail to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.

Surveys

From time-to-time our site requests information via surveys. Participation in these surveys is completely voluntary and you may choose whether or not to participate and therefore disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and address), and demographic information (such as zip code, age level).  Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of this site and to improve the overall project.

Security of Your Personal Information

We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline.

Wherever we collect sensitive information (such email data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser, or looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the web page.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (e.g. email notice service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers on which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.

We do not rent, sell or give away any information identifying you individually to third parties for marketing or mailing list purposes without your permission.

Public Records

As a governmental agency, we are governed by the California Public Records Act. (California Government Code section 6250 et seq.) As such, most business you conduct with VCTC becomes a public record and is open for public inspection. Public records may be posted on the website for electronic access. Records posted on the website are also available for public inspection by requests made in person, by mail or by telephone at the appropriate VCTC office.

The page and every page on ourfuture101.org are for general public information only. Should you require a response from VCTC, you must go to call VCTC at 800.438.1112. Please also be aware that, under certain circumstances, content appearing on this page may be subject to the California Public Records Act and subject to disclosure by VCTC if requested. This may include information about you that you may make available through your privacy settings on your own pages.

Cookies

VCTC, at times may use “cookies,” a piece of data stored on a site visitor’s hard drive to help us improve your access to our site and identify repeat visitors to our site. For instance, when we use a cookie to identify you, you would not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time while on our site. Cookies can also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance their experience on our site. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information on our site. The cookie feature is used to store a temporary identifying tag on your computer. Information Collected and Stored Automatically

We may analyze user traffic patterns on our website from information automatically provided by your browser when you visit our site. This information includes the IP address of your computer or network, the date, time, and page(s) you visited on our site, your browser and operating system, and the referring page (the last webpage you visited before accessing our website).
